Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa, the child of Maye Musk (née Haldeman), a model and dietitian from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Errol Musk, a South African electromechanical architect, pilot, and mariner. He has a more youthful sibling, Kimbal (conceived 1972), and a more youthful sister, Tosca (conceived 1974).His fatherly grandma was British, and he additionally has Pennsylvania Dutch lineage.
